An authentic Osterfjord adventure
Looking for extraordinary things to do in Bergen? Our fantastic summer adventure combines the stunning beauty of the fjords in Norway with the peacefulness of untouched nature on a scenic hike near Bergen. On our guided tour, you’ll get to enjoy Norway’s famous natural beauty first hand by hiking through the tranquil Kossdalen valley and up Kossdalssvingane, a cultural-historical road twisting 360 meters up the mountainside with 17 sharp curves.
Cruise the Norwegian fjords
Explore the beautiful Bergen fjords aboard our comfortable, modern boat, taking you into the heart of the fjord landscapes surrounding Bergen. Lean back and enjoy the cruise, which gives you close up views of steep mountains and waterfalls, and goes through the narrow Mostraumen straits!
Hiking the famous Kossdalssvingane
After an amazing fjord cruise, we dock and meet our guide in the charming village of Hosanger. The local expert then takes us through the tranquil Kossdalen valley on a relatively easy hike to picturesque Kossdalssvingane. Built in the 19th century, this hidden gem was once the main road between Hosanger and the farms farther inland on Osterøy island. At the steepest, the hairpin turns climb a 27% incline, but it’s well worth the effort. The reward at the top? Breathtaking views of the wonderful Kossdalen valley in all of its unspoiled, natural beauty. Learn about local myths and culture from our enthusiastic guide and capture beautiful photos along the way!
Homemade lunch at Den Grøne Fabrikken
Once back in Hosanger village after hiking Kossdalssvingane, it’s time for a delicious lunch made with locally sourced food at Den Grøne Fabrikken. A former furniture factory, the building now houses an art gallery on the banks of the fjord. Enjoy a well-deserved lunch break with front row fjord views!
A Stop at the Historic Hosanger Clog Workshop
Before leaving the charming harbor of Mjøsvågen, we also make a brief stop at the historic Hosanger Clog Workshop. This well preserved 1920s workshop offers a unique glimpse into Norway’s coastal heritage and early industrial history.
During our visit, you will get a quick look at how traditional clogs were made and see the original, belt-driven machinery, which is still fully operational today.
Travel Responsibly – Experience Nature, Leave No Trace
Exploring Norway’s breathtaking landscapes comes with a responsibility to protect them. As you hike, we encourage the “Leave No Trace” principles: Stay on marked trails, bring back all waste, and respect the nature around you. Thank you!
