Far away from the bustle of city life, under an hour by boat from Bergen, is the Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri guesthouse. We sail from the center of Bergen through the most beautiful coastal and fjord landscapes you can imagine, with islands, islets, narrow straits and bare rocks. In a historic setting, an evening of culinary delights awaits you at family restaurant of Ørjan Johannessen, world champion in culinary art from Bocuse d’Or 2015.
The cuisine at Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri is top notch, known for fresh, local ingredients. Your four-course tasting menu is composed of savory fish and meat dishes. It’s easy to see why this place is ranked in the “White Guide – The best restaurants in the Nordics”!
An exquisite culinary evening ends in the nicest possible way! On the boat trip back to Bergen, an actress from Teater Vestland joins us on board to perform a 20-minute Norwegian-language monologue called “Kva vil ein sommar anna enn kjærleik” (What does a summer want other than love). The monolog about the sea and love is based on lyrics by the late Norwegian writer/songwriter Odd Børretzen. Many of his songs have become an instantly recognizable part of Norwegian song culture.
