The good life on a tranquil island
The Utstein Kloster Hotell lies on the coast of Mosterøy, an island known for serenity and spiritual renewal since Viking times. The hotel is near Utstein Kloster, Norway’s best-preserved Medieval monastery, a site mentioned in sagas as early as the 9thCentury.
The hotel has 34 rooms, all in sea houses with views over the water. The setting is rural, idyllic and with spectacular scenery all around, just a short way from Stavanger. At the waterfront restaurant, up to 100 people at a time can savor first-class cuisine put together from the best of local and regional ingredients while enjoying the view.
The hotel is happy to organize activities for groups, ranging from wine tastings to guided tours of the nearby monastery. There are also a variety of entertaining hikes on the island, such as a walk to the Fjøløy Lighthouse from 1849 or to a German-built WWII fort. The sea around the hotel is ideal for ocean kayaking, ocean rafting and safaris.
The hotel caters to meetings and conferences, but also welcomes holidaymakers.
